Andorra is a co-principality (Spain & France) in a wide valley of the Pyrenees Mountains.
At an altitude of 4000 feet it offers a comfortable, dry climate.
Its river and natural thermal springs made it attractive to the Romans. It has a rich and traditional history – the Casa de la Calle (equivalent to Town Hall) in Andorra-la-Vela contains a high wooden cupboard stacked with local records said to date back to Charlemagne. The national anthem contains a reference to Charlemagne “to free the land from Moorish rule”.
Rugged and remote from the outside world until the mid-twentieth century advent of tourism, Andorra's land outside the capital (Andorra La Vela) is devoted chiefly to pasture.
The rural landscape has been referred to a like something out of The Hobbit. Romanesque and Medieval churches, thickset livestock collared by huge bells, rough hewn chalets with archaic wrought ironwork straight out of Grimm's fairytales, ancient village springs, and stone dovecotes tell it's long, enduring history.
Andorra is well ensconced in the 21st century as well – as a tax-free country it offers great tax-free shopping and we have found a state of the art spa that compliments our walking program and that we have incorporated into the tour.
Caldea Spa (Oh - the Romans would be proud of this!)

outlet temperature is warm (68º) and rich in minerals. Relaxing in

area, showers with various water pressures to stimulate circulation.
Relaxation – relaxation between thermal baths, showers is

the fitness area, is relaxing and does not tan the skin, Wood's lighting – negative ion relaxation, outdoor terrace area (all relaxation areas are suitable for reading). - After breakfast we travel to La Massana province to visit 'Casa Rull'. This is an Authentic Andorran village farmhouse which replicates the life and times of a wealthy farmers family illustrating rural life as it has been for centuries.
- Afternoon – we visit and have an orientation of the amazing Caldea Spa facility You have a 6-day pass at this state of the art spa.
