Canadian Woman Travel invites you to join Denise Johnson on a remarkable 8 day walking tour through County Kerry, traditionally known as "The Kingdom".

"County Kerry is renowned the world over for its beautiful scenery as well as Killarney National Park and lakes, sandy beaches, cliffs and rocky headlands, fishing, canoeing, horseback riding as well as some of the most magnificent walking terrain in Ireland."

Enjoy moderate walks of 5 to 10 kms with gradual ascents of up to approximately 1300 ft.

Our Itinerary :

Aug 7 - Arrive in Ireland
Transfer from Shannon or Kerry airports to Killarney. Meet up with our group escort, Denise Johnson and other members of the group. Enjoy dinner and a welcome briefing with our walking guide at the Robeen House. Meals - (D)

Aug 8 - Killarney National Park
After we enjoy a wonderful Irish breakfast , a gentle walk through Killarney National Park allows you to experience the stunning lake and mountain scenery as well as the historical aspect of the Park. Visit a 19th century Muckross House and its gardens, a traditional farm where guests walk back in time to a working 1930’s farm, and a 15th century Muckross Abbey. Then we are off to a traditional Irish pub for a celebration of Irish Music! Overnight at the Robeen House. Meals - (B, L, D)

Aug 9 - Killarney - Ring of Kerry - Torc Waterfall - Cahersiveen
A short morning walk through Killarney National Park to Torc Waterfall. Transfer along the famous Ring of Kerry route to the coastal village of Caherdaniel. Visit Derrynane National Park & the beach home of Daniel O’Connell, the Liberator. As we walk along the mass path with beautiful views of the beaches, we visit a 12th Century abbey on Abbey Island. This afternoon you may Walk the blue flag Derrynane beach or a swim in the Atlantic ocean. Picnic lunch on beach or Abbey Island. In the afternoon we continue onto Cahersiveen to overnight at Cul Draiochta Guest House. Meals - (B, L, D)

Aug 10 - Killarney - Quest for Holy Celtic Water - " Today’s programme is certainly one with a difference - Simply unforgettable !! " In the morning, we will be joined by a water diviner, who will show us the ancient art of water divining and take us to an old Irish Holy Well and ancient Irish sites to practice your newly acquired skills. We continue our walk to the beautiful Bray Head on Valentia Island for lunch with superb views of the Skellig Islands. Continue to St Finians Bay and a visit to a chocolate factory! After dinner in your guesthouse, we invite you to a magical evening walk – walk in the stillness of late evening to a prehistoric Ring Fort. To those legends of Celtic battles and lost loves, we add one final extraordinary note – an Irish harp. Our walk will be recompensed with the magical sounds of an Irish harpist waiting for us in the stillness of the Ring Fort (weather permitting). Overnight at Cul Draiochta Guest House. Aug 11 - Killarney - Treasure Island Art and Music
Today we visit Valentia island, rich in wild and marine life, standing stones, sub-tropical flora & also the location of the first transatlantic cable. Visit Knightstown & Valentia grotto in the Slate quarry. Discover the ancient Ogham standing stones dotted around the island. In the afternoon, we learn to play the ancient Irish drum - the Bodhran - in a friendly and informal session with our Master Bohdran player. After dinner in your guesthouse, we head to the pub where we invite you to meet the locals, join in a traditional set dancing session – and maybe practice beating those Bodhrans! Overnight at Cul Draiochta Guest House. Meals - (B, L, D)

Aug 12 - Killarney - Atlantic Beach Walk, Sheep Dog Trials and Free Personal Time
Transfer along the Ring to Kerry to Killarney where you will stay for your last two nights. See real live sheep dog trials in Kells en-route. Completely rejuvenate your spirit as you walk along the award winning blue flag beach of Rossbeigh. Enjoy a free afternoon discovering Killarneys craft, book & coffee shops, visit a spa or walk in the National Park, adjacent to the town. Meals - (B, L, D)

Aug 13 - Killarney - Boat Trip through the Lakes of Killarney
The final leg of our journey takes us to Ross Castle to enjoy one of Ireland’s best day trips on an open top boat, through the three Lakes of Killarney. Finish your day by either taking a wonderful walk through the Gap Of Dunloe, and an Irish coffee at Kate Kearneys Cottage. Non walkers have the option of hopping on a horse drawn jaunting car (supplement of €20-30 per person). This evening enjoy a farewell dinner with your fellow travelling companions where you can celebrate  and reflect on the wonderful walks, sights, sounds  and tastes of Ireland you have experienced throughout the week. Aug 14 - Depart Ireland
Today will be our last day together on the Emerald Isle. Our journey has come to an end, we depart for home. Meals - (B)
