We will experience the different cultures of Austria, Germany and Switzerland against a backdrop of snowcapped mountains and blue water. Each country has its own individual cultures, cuisine and beauty. I have organized and lead several bicycle tours for women just like me. We are only normally fit and want a comfortable and non-demanding cycling tour that allows time to smell the flowers, enjoy the view, get out in the fresh air and especially the company of a small group of like-minded gals.

Although this varied cycling tour takes us mainly on cycle paths, we will encounter some quiet roads and some hills. There are numerous local stations around the lake that you can use the train to reduce the distances if you choose.
Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: (May 28) Arrival at Bregenz
We will all meet up in this lovely lakeside town. Together we will collect our bikes and information pack. We will have time to take a look around this pretty town before finding a place to have dinner then settle in for the rest of the evening.
Day 2: (May 29) Bregenz to Güttingen
27 or 37 miles
After breakfast we cycle along the lake through the Rhine Delta National Park to the Swiss border at Rheineck (on the old River Rhine). We continue to the lakeside town of Arbon, where we can stop for refreshments before continuing on to Güttingen, either by bike or if anyone wants by train (payable locally).
Day 3: (May 30) Güttingen to Stein am Rhein
24 miles.
Today we head toward the Swiss border and the picturesque town of Stein am Rhein; with its medieval town centre, frescoed houses and unique little alleyways ---like stepping into a fairytale.
Day 4: (May 31) Schaffhausen
31 miles
A day trip to the impressive waterfall at the source of the Rhein in Schaffhausen. The town also boasts an impressive 16th century fortress, and charming old streets to stroll around. We return to Stein am Rhein for our overnight stay.
Day 5: (June 01) Stein am Rhein to Constance
28 miles
Today's route takes us via Radolfzell and the island of Reichenau with its ancient Abbey, to the charming town of Constance, where the colourful houses and bustling atmosphere will make for a memorable visit.
Day 6: (June 02) Constance to Friedrichshafen
32 miles
En route to Friedrichshafen today, we discover the beautiful 'flower island' of Mainau, and then cross to Überlingen by ferry before reaching the quaint, cobbled town of Meersburg, with wonderful views across the lake.
Day 7: (June 03) Friedrichshafen to Bregenz
23 miles
Today we cycle to the island of Lindau today, where the old town is a classified historic monument. Continuing onto Bregenz, we take in beautiful views over the Swiss mountains and lake.
Day 8: (June 04) End of tour after breakfast
After breakfast our escorted tour is complete.OUR ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS
We will stay in twin rooms in comfortable hotel accommodation along the route. Our luggage is transported to each overnight stay for us, so we can relax and enjoy the cycling.
Accommodation is on a Bed & Breakfast basis.

A note from Peggy -
My name is Peggy Lloyd, and one of my passions is going on bike trips.
Don't get me wrong, I am by no means a “super woman athlete” but rather, an average woman,
who enjoys the fresh air, and the exercise.
I have been on many bike trips with my sisters, friends and guests.
They have included Austria, France, Switzerland, Holland, Prince Edward Island and
the Canadian Gulf Islands. Each time I am amazed at how wonderful it is to visit and ride, stroll through
villages, eat lunch on the side of the river bank, laugh and manage a few sore muscles. Many of my travelling friends, had not been on a bike for 20 or 30 years, but gave it a go! What a wonderful thing to see how much fun they had.
Remember, you don't have to be a super athlete to do this, just learn how to ride a bike again, and practice a bit before. I will help you to work your gears, give you my tips for keeping your seat from aching, walk up some hills together, and most of all, have fun with you.
Through the years I have worked in Marketing and Distribution of Heavy Equipment, raised a family, been married for 20 years, and travelled extensively. Of all my travels, being on the bike is the best. My favourite saying is to “live every, every minute”.
