Pranoto Pranoto... a native of Central Java who has lived in Bali since 1974. His gallery and studio is a central point in Ubud.

Pranoto was born in 1952 outside Sragen, a small village near Solo, Central Java. His ambition to be an artist began when he was a child. He went to live in Bali in 1974 with the goal of becoming a professional artist -- and he has been one ever since. He has always supported his fellow artists and collects paintings energetically. Pranoto loves to experiment with different media in his art, even using plaster on tile, and hand-made plaited paper to create a Ganesha on an antique door. He exhibited his brightly colored, light saturated pastels based on July 2000 model sessions at his gallery in a one-man show later in the year. He also participated in "Men Seeing Women", Human Form I" and "II" and "Figure Drawing". In his "small2" show he presents his latest work -- oil paintings on a sandpaper base, where he is concentrating on texture, brush stroke, color coordination and shape division.

Kerry Kerry Pendergrast ... an Australian-born artist living in Bali since 1992.

Born 1963, Perth, Western Australia. Her background is in Literature, Theater Arts and music (she is an experienced singer in many styles-now a member of the Ubud-based group Planet Bamboo-www.bali3000.com/planetbamboo).

She first came to Bali in 1992 and was referred to by her artist brother to look up his friend Pranoto who liked to "drink coffee and talk". She did indeed look up his friend -- they married in 1993 and have two children. She began to draw models in 1993 and found a new passion in her life. She had her first one woman exhibition in 1998 of her work in acrylic. She then changed to watercolour and had an exhibition in Perth, Western Australia in April 2000, including her line drawings. Currently she is working in soft pastel and will exhibit her outdoor work in October 2001 at Seniwati Gallery. Kerry's line drawing shows her self assurance. Simple lines speak her true eyes, capturing the beauty they saw. Her painting describes her exploration of her joy to play using an intricate line or colour. Sometimes a simple idea combined with a strong design of shape division and colour scheme limitation. It produces a distinctive, pleasant harmony into each of her creations. She is a happy, singing soul with a gifted artists eyes and hands.
